This appeals to my inner geek. Thanks Aaron!
Aaron, I read in another review -I think on Amazon- that the author mainly relies on second century manuscripts. Is that correct? I lean the same way but want to check before buying this for myself.
I’m curious to know which he favors as well. Does he exclude the Alexandrian manuscripts?
I think perhaps you meant Byzantine as most of the early manuscripts are Alexandrian. I would say it is that he favors the older but not to the exclusion of more recent manuscript. He seems to favor P52, P90,P66, P46, P77, P103, &P98 among others depending on the text. I think a good case can be made for those closer to the autographs. I like his thinking on this.
Ah, Aaron you are correct. The Alexandrian manuscripts are the earlier ones. Funny thing is I have always said it the other way around and no one ever bothered to correct me- and some of those men and women are textual critics so they knew better! Sheesh! Well thank you for being open enough to correct that error and save me future embarrassment:-*
