Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison are sisters who share a passion for healthy eating. They both have boisterous families and love to experiment in the kitchen on ways to best nourish their families and stay slim and healthy in the process. They were recording artists with a Christian music label and traveled extensively, but they relinquished their touring careers to embrace a life at home with children, dinners, dishes, and diapers. They have never looked back.

  1. Oh Jami superb review I always looked at that book and thoght no way! To confusing and long lol I’m glad they made it easier. Whats a tandem fuel? Sounds like something to make a car go lol! Did it work for Aaron like not like did the diet work but was it enough to fill him. I dunno Joseph needs to eat so much and likes white potatoes but red too especially mashed with butter and salt and gravy and even worse stuff!! And he likes those potaters with beef a lot of beef with blood and fat. Thats why his belly is pulling his shirt up now hee hee!

Tandem fueling is when you do mix carbs and fats. They call it a crossover. This can be helpful for pregnant /nursing mamas, those at goal weight and guys. There is actually a chapter just for guys. A few things that help me; our guys need to eat more than us. It’s ok if he eats a lot. (My issue is making enough food. I am trying to figure out budgeting and a big family.) So, Joseph can eat as much meat as he wants. Ideally it would be with other veggies, (many people like radishes or cauliflower mashed with gravy), but if wants the potatoes , don’t stress over it. The most important thing is not to force it on him. The authors ate this way for a year before their husbands did. Even then the husbands didn’t follow the plan perfectly. Because guys burn fat differently, they can get away with more if there aren’t immediate health concerns. This comment is long! Email me if you want some suggestions. 🙂

      • Amen sister Jami! I think this plan works wonders for women and for men who don’t mind not mixing. But it is the not mixing and low carbs that really make it work!

Oh thank you!!! I have been wondering about this book but am overwhelmed. Totally overwhelmed. I’m throwing out the brick and buying this one now!

Ha! I never actually did make it all the way through the old one. I was able to get through this edition within a short time. So. Much. Simpler.

At the risk of sounding sexist, my wife went on this 18 months ago and is now one hot mama! I mean she always was but wow. What a difference! Her energy level improved by leaps and bounds and this has made her beauty flourish. And her mood is better. Great review!

If it will make MY hubby call me a “hot mama” then bring it on!
