Mark Altrogge wrote this good piece on what we should expect from new believers. Sometimes new believers change immediately; but all to often they struggle with remaining sin and battle their way to where most people expect them to be over night. Altrogge reminds us of the messianic prophecy that Christ will not break the bruised reed. If you have a friend who is a new believer, and he is a bruised reed contrite over his condition, rest in the fact that Christ will not extinguish the flame within him. Encourage him with the gospel.
