Mother’s Day 2016 Gift Ideas
If you’re anything like me holidays always seem to sneak up on you and catch you by surprise. I’m always scrambling at the last minute to think of something (anything!) that I can give as a gift and not come across as that guy who ends up giving that gift that “seemed like a good idea at the time”.I blame part of this on my upbringing. Whenever I would ask my mom what she wanted for Mother’s Day she would reply with something like, “a hug is enough” or “I can’t think of anything I need”. Granted, she was simply stating what she really believed but these types of replies create a certain amount of anxiety in the mind of a young boy feeling the pressure to give the best gift ever to the best woman he ever knew. Growing up with three sisters didn’t help much either. How is a young boy to narrow their list of three thousand gift ideas down one affordable but perfect gift? Needless to say, when I met Jami I was as clueless as they came and I have given my fair share of gifts which seemed like a good idea at the time. None of them were.
Over the years I have tried many things to try to overcome my clueless complex. More often than not I end up buying the greatest “clueless man gift idea” that God ever created . . . . flowers. Luckily, our friends over at Amazon have you covered there and if you are so late that your local florist is no longer taking orders, you can order a fresh bouquet of flowers and have them shipped to your door in time for the big day. You can pay more at other florists but for the price and quality. . . why would you? Having a difficult time deciding between all of the options? Try this one. For just over $37 you get a dozen gorgeous roses, a vase, and free two day shipping (for Prime members).
Luckily I’m getting this post out a month before Mother’s Day so you don’t have to rely on last minute flowers if you act now. Gift giving can be tricky and it requires that you be in tune with how your wife/mother/grandmother/etc. experiences love. If you haven’t figured this out yet pick up a copy of the most appropriate Gary Chapman “Love Languages” book that fits your circumstance and read fast. Or if you prefer the direct approach simply ask her. She may already know what her love language is and if she does you can save yourself a lot of guesswork. If her primary love language is gifts then get busy and check out Amazon’s Handmade Mother’s Day Gift ideas.
Whatever you decide to get her this Mother’s Day, whether it’s flowers, a sweater she has had her eye on, or a simple meal, make sure that you don’t let this Mother’s Day go by without letting her know just how incredibly proud and honored you are to have her in your life.
