The Message of Reconciliation

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE DETAILS.

Are we called to cooperate with God in a work of reconciliation in 2 Corinthians 5? Or is Paul saying that the reconciliation has taken place and we are to bring the message of reconciliation? The way we answer this question has a lot to do with how we view our role and God’s kingdom. Michael Horton takes this question on at White Horse Inn. Read or Listen: The Embassy of Grace

So are we not supposed to be active in redeeming the culture at all? What about the great commission? I dunno. What they said make a lot of sense though. Just trying to get a good balance

No, what they are saying is that it is God who redeems. We don’t cooperate with his redeeming. We proclaim that he has redeemed. Culture is redeemed by believing the gospel.

I can go both ways to be honest. We can’t do nothing but at the same time trust that God has reconciled the world to himself and this means he will bring about its final destination. Once we lose sight of that we start to shift the message from God has done this to I must redeem culture.
